⛽ Fuel-Saving Cars & Real Costs
Compare a car on your own route with the AC running. Engine size or an advertised fuel figure alone cannot predict your bill.
Compare similar cars
Shortlist the same model year and condition for a Yaris, Sunny, Corolla or suitable hybrid. Check official model specifications, then use a test drive and owner records to estimate real consumption in your traffic. Larger boot space or a lower purchase price can matter more than a small fuel difference.
Calculate your fuel
Record litres added to refill the tank and kilometres driven between two full fills. Km per litre = distance ÷ litres. Daily fuel spend = daily distance ÷ your measured km per litre × the current pump price. Do not use a single partial-tank gauge reading as a measurement.
Hybrid or electric
Hybrids may save fuel on stop-and-go routes, but compare higher purchase price, battery condition and maintenance. For EVs, calculate charging access, actual range with AC, charge time and insurance before deciding. Ask for the battery warranty terms for the exact model.
Reduce waste safely
Keep tyres at the vehicle maker's specified cold pressure, service filters and fluids, remove unnecessary weight, accelerate smoothly and combine nearby stops. Fix brake drag, cooling faults or misfires rather than trying to compensate through driving style.
