📦 Choosing a Car for UAE Delivery Work
Choose a car that fits your route, parcel size, cooling needs and total operating cost.
Small parcels: Yaris or Tiida
A small hatchback can make frequent stops and tight streets easier; a Tiida may offer useful rear-seat/cargo flexibility. Measure your largest box against the actual door opening and boot—not the model's advertised capacity. Inspect older cars carefully.
More boot room: Sunny
A small sedan may fit more boxed orders but can have a narrow boot opening. Test the real parcel mix before buying and verify AC performance when idling between stops.
Bulky loads: suitable van
For large or many parcels, compare a suitable van's fuel, tyres, parking, licence, insurance and commercial-use conditions. A cheap small car becomes costly if boxes cannot safely fit.
Work out cost per delivery
Example method: daily fuel + monthly rent/insurance and service reserve divided by working days = daily vehicle cost. Divide daily vehicle cost by your expected completed deliveries. Add parking and tolls if your route uses them. Compare a hot summer day with AC on and a slow route rather than trusting an advertised fuel figure.
Ask your insurer in writing whether delivery or commercial use is covered, and whether you need a particular registration or employer arrangement. Never assume an ordinary personal policy covers paid parcel delivery. Secure parcels below window height where possible and do not block mirrors, controls or passenger safety equipment.
Test-drive checklist
- AC at idle and after sustained driving; engine temperature while AC runs.
- Boot opening, back-seat access, parcel loading time and spare-tyre space.
- Brakes, tyres, CVT or automatic shifts and suspension over bumps.
- Service invoices, expected next service, local parts availability and inspection quote.
